Terms of Service

These terms govern your use of Challenger Quiz (the "Service"), operated by Elliot McDonald. By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to them.

1. The Service

Challenger Quiz is a tool for hosts to manage pub quizzes: tracking teams, scores and results across weeks and seasons, including data imported from third-party quiz software. It's provided as is, and features may change, be added or be removed over time.

2. Accounts

Host accounts are created by invitation. You're responsible for keeping your login credentials confidential and for activity that happens under your account. Teams log in with a team code or a one-time QR code from their host, at the host's discretion. A host is responsible for who it gives team codes and QR codes to.

3. Your data

You keep ownership of the quiz, team and score data you upload or enter. You're responsible for having the right to enter and store that data, including any third-party export files you import. We don't sell your data or share it with other hosts; each host's data is kept isolated from every other host's. Within a quiz, regular teams can compare their topic and round type results with each other's unless the host turns team comparison off.

4. Plans and payment

The Service has a Free plan and a Pro plan. A host can try Pro once for 7 days with no card; the trial ends on its own. Paid Pro subscriptions are billed through Stripe, and you can manage or cancel yours from Options > Manage billing on Your quizzes. When Pro ends, the Pro features switch off and your quiz data stays.

5. Third-party services

Connecting Spotify to fill music rounds is optional, and your use of Spotify is subject to Spotify's own terms. Files imported from SpeedQuizzing or other quiz software remain subject to that software's terms.

6. Acceptable use

Don't use the Service to store or process anything unlawful, don't attempt to access another host's data without permission, and don't attempt to disrupt or abuse the Service.

7. No warranty

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose or uninterrupted availability. Scores, imports, and analytics are provided as a convenience and should be spot-checked before being treated as an official record.

8. Availability

We aim to keep the Service reliably available, including around typical quiz nights, and to give notice ahead of planned maintenance where practical. We don't currently commit to a specific uptime percentage or offer service credits for downtime; this may be revisited as the Service matures. If availability matters enough to your quiz that you'd want a formal commitment, get in touch before relying on the Service for anything time-critical.

9. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Challenger Quiz and its operator won't be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential loss arising from use of the Service, including loss of data or loss of a quiz's scoring history.

10. Termination

We may suspend or terminate access to the Service for any account that violates these terms. You can stop using the Service at any time.

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, without regard to conflict of law principles.

12. Changes to these terms

These terms may be updated from time to time. Continued use of the Service after a change means you accept the updated terms.
